Hybrid Solar Street Light
1.Overview
Hybrid solar street light uses solar energy first and has AC power as a backup when there is a long time of bad weather. If the battery is not adequately charged or it drains out during the night, AC input will kick in automatically.
The system implements an automatic switchover function, adopts grid power technology to adapt to the circumstances of no sunlight, sunlight abundance and sunlight shortage, etc.
Compared with regular solar street light, the hybrid solar street light only use a hybrid charger to replace the solar charger. And add a led power supply as a switch to turn on/off the grid system.
2.Advantage
1. Energy conservation and emission reduction.
2. Cut down the cost of the high-power solar street light by cutting down the backup of battery size.
3. Break through the max power limit of solar street lights which is limited by cost and efficiency. LED power can be up to 150 W or more.
4. Dual sources of input power will make the light work well even in the case of a grid failure or power outage.
5. Adapt to any bad weather, and can work in lower solar irradiation areas.
3.Wiring Diagram
1.Charge: when sun goes up, light turn off. Then battery be charged by solar panel when sun is strong.
2.Discharge: when sun goes down and battery have energy in-store, battery will provide energy directly to let the light keep on.
3.Grid power work: when battery is empty at night, the power switch will turn on automatically to let the grid in, and transfer 110~ 230VAC to 12VDC to drive the controller and let the light keep on.
4.Working model
There are two working modes can be choosed for this light: timer working mode and sensor working mode.
Timer working model:slice the night to 5 time periods, and can let the light work with different power at each period.
Sensor working mode: slice the night to 1-5 time periods. In each period, when people or vehicle pass by, the sensor will detect the motion and the light will lighten up to 100% efficiency. When people go away, then dim to 30%-50% power saving energy.
Factory Setting: Sensor working model. 100% power when people passing by, then dim to 30% saving power after people go far.
5.Application
1. Critical areas (Main roads, highways, bridges) lighting with high lighting requirements.
2. Areas with a strong sun in summer but have a long rain season or winter, like Europe and the United States.
3. Areas want to use solar street lights to replace the LED street light to save electricity bills.
6.Reliable operations under diverse
conditions
1. On sunny days, the solar panel charges the battery, and the battery dis-charges at night to power the LED luminaire. AC electricity does not need to kick in.
2. On cloudy/rainy/snowy days, the solar panel cannot (or can only convert little solar energy) charge the battery. After the battery drains out, AC electricity kicks in automatically to power the LED luminaire.
